Live music isn't dead in San Jose, it just smells funny.

Okay, I ripped that off from Frank Zappa, but the idea that there aren't any places to play in San Jose for the up-and-coming band just isn't so. While the Art Boutiki is not exactly a palace, it can be a showcase for your bands CD release party or other event.

Most of the time we book through promoters we know or other bands we have come across. We usually only have 2-3 live music nights per month (not including our Jazz Jam) so we do not book everyone who wants to play here. General rule of thumb is we do not book bands who have rowdy shows (the venue has a no moshing, no stage diving policy) so we tend to stay away from metal, punk and hip hop.

If your band wants to pay at the Boutiki you might be asked to sign a waiver stating that you either own or have the rights to play the music you are playing (other than during our open mics or jam nights). Otherwise we are going to politely ask that your set not include covers of any music which might be in the ASCAP catalog.
