The Comic Book Art of Gene Luen Yang
SLG Publishing's Art Boutiki & Gallery presents an evening showcasing the world of acclaimed comics creator Gene Luen Yang.
In 2006 First Second Books release Gene's graphic novel American Born Chinese to great acclaim. AMerican Born Chinese became the first graphic novel to ever be nominated for a National Book Award and became the first graphic novel to win the American Library Association's Printz Award for young adult literature and also won the comic book industry's highest honor, an Eisner Award, in the category of best New Graphic Novel.
In addition to working on graphic novels Gene teaches computer science at a Catholic high school and is an advocate for the use of comics and graphic novels in education.
Gene will be on hand to show selections of his original art, sign copies of his book including the newly released Animal Crackers.
